The next generation of Gaming, one nil to Sony

So i found this post on the web and i heard that just posting it like a whole piece is not the right thing, I got permission from the original writer and read up the way to curate content, so that is it…….i thought this was fascinating because it highlights some of the highs and lows that I encountered when i was working within the business.

Japanese tech giants Sony have unveiled the 4th instalment of their enormously admired Playstation series.

The games device, that was officially revealed at this year’s E3 Trade event in Los Angeles, California, have been ardently anticipated.

Although several of the console’s features and updates were announced in February, Sony had kept prospective buyers guessing on some essential facts, including the overall design of the Playstation 4.

Andrew House, President and Group CEO of SCE, said that the Playstation 4 represents, in some ways, a very new Playstation.

Perhaps the news which has many people discussing could be the statement that the Playstation 4 will gravely dent its nearest rival, Microsoft’s Xbox One, on price. Mr. House announced the Playstation 4 could be sold at US $399 (£349) upon release, whilst, at the identical exhibition, Microsoft had previously revealed how the Xbox One would cost US $499 (£429).

One more significant declaration came when it was revealed that Sony wouldn’t be introducing any restrictions on second user games. In truth, the PS4 won’t even need players to frequently authenticate their consoles via the Internet to be able to continue play.

Conversely, Microsoft has added more restrictions regarding who a gamer can buy second-hand titles from. The corporation has even gone so far as to need Xbox One players to connect to the net once each day in order to use their machine.

In response to Sony, there are approximately one hundred forty Playstation 4 video games currently in progress, with 100 roughly expected to go on sale within the Playstation 4’s first year of issue. Trade insiders have speculated that Sony are attempting to reach out to indie designers, particularly those that feel muted by Microsoft.

Drawing a huge cheer from the spectators, Jack Tretton, boss of Sony Entertainment America said, “PS4 won’t impose any new restrictions on your use of Playstation 4 game discs,”

BBC correspondent Dave Lee reported that, “If console battles were decided by the frequency and volume of whoops and cheers from highly strung gaming fanatics, then Sony has won it hands down”.

The current Sony machine, the Playstation 3, outsold Microsoft’s Xbox 360 by a decent margin, but was in turn outsold by Nintendo’s Wii. It’s consideration that Sony are attempting to rectify this using the release of the PS4.

Sony’s announcement is seen by some like a calculated hit against Microsoft, with IGN.com’s UK Editor-in-Chief Alex Simmons describing it as a extremely public slap across Microsoft’s face.

Sony declined to provide a release date for the new console, but tenaciously hinted the PS4 should arrive around Christmas.
